Art Wine Design, Thursday April 25th



Southdowns Shopping Center will put on its biannual Art Wine Design event Thursday, April 25th from 6-9 p.m. Local businesses will feature some of Baton Rouge's most prominent artists in visual arts, fashion, hair design, and beauty. Food trucks like Taco de Paco and Latte e Miele will be serving guests as they listen to live music at various locations. You can also stop at the Bulldog for a nice drink and some good food.


ARTS: 
Ann Connelly Fine Art features work of artists Ryan Cobourn and Mia Kaplan.
Down the way Spectrum Fitness Southdowns with host The Upper 2, ukulele singing sisters and recent works from artists Jade Brady and Hunter Guidry.
Monochrome Furniture + Design with their sleek home furnishings will showcase ceramic sculptures by local artist Becky Gottsegen. Gottsegen creates nearly life-size mannequins that are full of character and humor. Caroline Coe's shadowboxes of cut-paper butterflies will be on display at Home by Rogers & McDaniel.
Stop by Stafford Tile showroom for cutting-edge design in kitchen and bath tile.
LD Linens will have a book signing with Rod Dreher, author of an inspiring story The Little Way of Ruthie Leming about his sister's battle with cancer.
Jeannie Frey Rhodes Photography Studio will exhibit over 40 portraits of animals and their people taken in her striking, captivating style.

FASHION:
Tomato boutique is offering 20% off during the event.
Rollie Noelie from Noelie Harmon will roll in its converted Airstream stocked full of organic and sustainable fashion and accessories.

HAIR DESIGN & BEAUTY
Blon Salon, Glo Beauty Bar, and Hot Locks will be open to showcase their talented hair and make-up stylists for the whole event.

The Folk Art and Music of Butch Hornsby

Join us on Friday (3/15) from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. for an opening exhibition of the found objects art and painting of Butch Hornsby in The Gallery at Manship Theatre in the Shaw Center. In addition to the visual art in the gallery, the Manship Theatre will screen a seven minute music video on the hour and half hour featuring performances by Butch Hornsby and Duke Bardwell.

This exhibit is presented by Vetter Communications Corporation and the Manship Theatre in associations with the Shaw Center for the Arts.

Sculptures of New Orleans


Artist Mia Kaplan’s new installation is a part of Sculptures for New Orleans; installed on the corner of Poydras and Penn Street the sculpture called “Swamp Flower”. The piece is a part of an exhibition to bring awareness to post-Katrina artist. Special thanks to Sculptures of New Orleans, Odgen Museums of Southern Arts and The Helis Foundation for funding the project.
